ABOUT
Our Story
Rooted in Family

Black Queen Bee was founded in 2018 as a way to help preserve natural resources and as a way to help teach our family about what it means to be an Apiarist (Bee Keeper). We are also a family that consumes lots of honey. We were very nervous when we started but found delight in wonders of how bees continue to develop their colonies. Upon learning the benefits of honey, especially local honey, we recognized the important role that bees play in our health and the revitalization of our natural environment.
As Apiarists of color, we also see how important it is to inform and educate BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color) of a time old profession that they may not have had exposure to. We are excited to play a part in helping to make our community thrive.
